Wolf

📋 Wolves are classified as a big game animal and wolf hunters must follow all big game regulatory requirements. In the provincial forest, provincial parks, recreation sites and on unoccupied Crown land, placing bait for the hunting of wolves with a firearm is prohibited (p. 20).

📋 It is illegal to hunt or trap wolf or coyote in the areas within and surrounding Algonquin Provincial Park, Killarney Provincial Park, Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands Provincial Park and Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park to help protect Eastern wolf (p. 84). Generally, wolves and coyotes cannot be hunted in provincial parks or Crown Game Preserves (p. 85). Party hunting for wolves and coyotes is not permitted in areas where a tag is required (p. 85). .275-calibre maximum rifle restriction in listed southern geographic areas (p. 85).

📋 Hunters asked not to shoot wolves marked with radio collars and/or ear tags; lower jawbone or complete skull of all harvested wolves must be submitted to a Department of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands or Wildlife Division office by May 14, 2027. The gray wolf (from Labrador) occurrence has been documented on the Island of Newfoundland.
