📋 Definitions: 'Antlered' means a white-tailed deer with antlers more than 10 cm (4 in.) in length; 'Antlerless' means not 'antlered'. A Manitoba resident may purchase one General Deer Hunting Licence valid in Archery, Muzzleloader, Shotgun/Muzzleloader and General (rifle) Seasons (plus second/third deer licences where offered). A Canadian resident cannot hunt in the Shotgun/Muzzleloader Season or purchase a second or third deer licence. Non-Canadian residents must book through a licensed lodge/outfitter, be accompanied by a licensed Manitoba guide, may only harvest one white-tailed deer, and may only hunt during certain Archery, Muzzleloader and General (rifle) Seasons. The Youth Deer and Game Bird Licence is valid during the Archery, Youth Muzzleloader, Muzzleloader, Shotgun/Muzzleloader and General (rifle) Deer Seasons. All hunters must submit biological samples from white-tailed deer harvested in GHAs 5, 6, 6A, 11, 12, 13, 13A, 18, 18A, 18B, 18C, 22, 23, 23A, 27, 28, 29, 29A, 30, 31, 31A, 32, 33, 35, and 35A (CWD mandatory surveillance). Centrefire rifles cannot be used in the Near-Urban Centrefire Prohibition Area (RMs of Headingley, Rosser, Rockwood, St. Andrews, West St. Paul, East St. Paul, St. Clements and Richot).

📋 Manitoba resident only (General $5.75; Second $5.75; Third $5.75). All hunters must submit biological samples from mule deer harvested in GHAs 5, 6, 6A, 11, 12, 13, 13A, 18, 18A, 18B, 18C, 22, 23, 23A, 27, 28, 29, 29A, 30, 31, 31A, 32, 33, 35, and 35A (CWD mandatory surveillance, see p. 64). 📋 Draw moose seasons: GHAs 2A, 4, 5, 6, 6A, 7, 7A, 8, 9A, 10, 11, 15, 15A, 17A, 20, 27, 28 & 31A are all draw moose seasons (p. 40). Conservation Moose Licence Package ($97.25): two licences and one game tag allowing a shared harvest of one moose in general moose seasons (GHAs 1, 2, 3, 3A, 9, 17 and 17B); party up to four Conservation Moose Licence holders. Canadian and non-Canadian resident moose hunters must book through a licensed lodge/outfitter, be accompanied by a licensed Manitoba guide (max four hunters per guide). Licensed moose hunting is prohibited in designated portions of GHAs 9A and 10 (see pages 7 or 36). Deer Muzzleloader and General Deer Seasons in GHAs 26 and 36 extended, and second deer licence available in GHAs 17A, 26, 36 and third deer licence in GHA 26, to reduce white-tailed deer numbers (moose management). A GHA 23 or 23A Draw Elk or Landowner Elk Licence with a one elk or bull moose bag limit is not considered a Moose Licence.

📋 Elk hunting is Manitoba resident only (Elk licence $67.20; Big Game Draw application fee $11.50). Definitions: 'Antlered' or 'bull' means an elk with antlers more than 10 cm (4 in.) in length; 'Antlerless' means an elk that is not 'antlered.' Landowner Elk Licences are valid only on property owned by the licence holder. All hunters must submit biological samples from elk harvested in GHAs 13, 13A, 18, 18A, 18B, 18C, 23, 23A, 28, 29, 29A, 30 and 31A.

📋 Bag limit one black bear per year (all zones). GHAs 13 and 18 fall bear season dates are August 15 to September 20. Fall bear hunters in GHA 18 are restricted to designated routes. GHA 34A is an archery only season, Manitoba residents only. GHA 34B is an archery only season for Manitoba, Canadian and non-Canadian residents. GHAs 2, 30 and 34C are Manitoba resident and Canadian resident only season areas. In GHA 17A, Designated Route restrictions apply to fall black bear hunters from Sept. 21 to Oct. 18. In GHA 21A, Hecla Island is closed to black bear hunting. In a provincial park, black bears may not be hunted within 300 metres of a garbage dump (100 m restriction applies elsewhere). In GHAs 23 and 23A: baits may not be placed until 14 days prior to the spring/fall season; baiting equipment on Crown land must be removed within 5 days after closure of both seasons; baits may not be placed within 100 metres of Riding Mountain National Park. Baits may not be placed within 200 metres of a road or dwelling, or 500 metres of a cottage subdivision or a Crown land picnic site or campground; baits on Crown land may not exceed 100 kilograms of meat and/or fish. It is illegal to possess black bear gall bladders in Manitoba. Grizzly bears are protected and cannot be killed or possessed (sighted in GHAs 1 and 2). Non-Canadian residents must book through a licensed outfitter and be accompanied by a licensed Manitoba guide; CITES export permits required to transport out of Canada (with exemptions for personally transported fresh/frozen/salted hides, hide with paws and claws, skull or meat into the United States). Black bear hunters are exempt from hunter orange during the spring season but required during the fall season.

📋 The bag limit for caribou is one bull caribou during all seasons in all game hunting areas (p. 48). Manitoba resident caribou licences are offered for GHAs 1, 2 and 3, available beginning the first Thursday of June, limited quantity, first-come/first-served; all GHA 1 Manitoba resident caribou licences (first and second) pooled; 350 Manitoba resident licences for the fall season and 450 for the winter season. Caribou hunters must transport the caribou with its reproductive organs from the place where it is killed until it is processed. Canadian and non-Canadian residents must book through a licensed lodge/outfitter and be accompanied by a licensed Manitoba guide (max four hunters per guide). Do not rely on antlers to identify bulls – both bull and cow caribou may or may not have antlers (p. 48).

📋 Gray wolves can be hunted under the authority of any big game licence; no tagging requirements – the hunter's big game licence number is all that is required to possess a wolf taken under that licence. Hunters must possess a valid current-year big game hunting licence; where an area is open to big game hunting, the wolf hunter must hold the corresponding species licence and an unused game tag valid for that area, species and time period. Non-Canadian resident wolf hunters can hunt wolves only with the licensed outfitter and in the GHA(s) specified on their licence and must be accompanied by a licensed Manitoba guide. Wolf baiting restrictions: baits identified with name and address; not within 200 m of a road or dwelling or 500 m of a cottage subdivision/Crown land picnic site/campground; GHAs 23 and 23A baiting rules (14 days prior, removal within 5 days, 100 m from Riding Mountain National Park); baits on Crown land max 100 kg meat/fish; no livestock head, hooves, hide, mammary glands or internal organs. CITES export permits are required before transporting a gray wolf out of Canada.

📋 Licences: Manitoba resident Game Bird $37.00; Canadian resident Game Bird $108.00; Non-Canadian resident Upland Game Bird $184.00; Deer and Game Bird Licence (youth) $20.75. Manitoba residents 65+ do not require a provincial Game Bird Licence (not including wild turkey) with proof of age/residency. Landowner/occupier and immediate family may hunt upland game birds (excluding wild turkey) on their land without a licence. Canadian and non-Canadian residents hunting upland game birds are not required to use an outfitter or guide. A pellet gun or rimfire rifle may be used for upland game birds; centrefire rifles cannot be; shotgun slugs cannot be. Lead shot is permitted for upland game birds. During the general (rifle) deer season, upland game bird hunters must meet hunter orange requirements.

📋 Licences: Manitoba resident Wild Turkey $34.00; Manitoba resident (Youth) Wild Turkey $14.75. A landowner must purchase a Wild Turkey Licence to hunt wild turkey. Hunters may hunt in a party of two persons. Electronic calls are prohibited when hunting wild turkey; dogs may not be used by or accompany wild turkey hunters. Crossbow minimum 68 kg (150 lbs.) draw weight, broadhead 2.2 cm (7/8 in.) or greater; bow minimum 18.1 kg (40 lbs.). Tree stands/blinds for wild turkey can be placed up to 14 days before the season on Crown land and must be removed within 14 days of season close.

📋 A Canada Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit and Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp is required by all migratory game bird hunters; hunters (excluding residents 65+) must also possess a provincial Game Bird Licence or Deer and Game Bird Licence (Youth). GHA 38 is Manitoba Resident only with a daily bag limit of 12 (dark geese) from Sept. 1 to Sept. 23. In GBHZ 4 not more than 4 daily or 12 in possession may be canvasbacks or redheads or a combination of the two species. Morning-only dark goose hunting for non-Canadian residents: in GBHZ 4 and GHAs 13A, 14, 14A, part 16, 18, 18A, 18B, 18C, 19, 19A, 19B, 20, 21A, 23A, and 25, dark goose hunting is restricted to morning only (1/2 hour before sunrise to 12:00 noon) up to and including Sunday, October 12; beginning Monday, October 13, dark geese may be hunted all day; white geese may be hunted all day in all GBHZs. Non-toxic shot is mandatory (except for woodcock); shotgun max 10 gauge; magazine plugged to 2 shells. Electronic snow goose recordings permitted during Spring Conservation Goose Seasons and the fall general season. Waterfowler Heritage Days September 1 to 7 (youth may hunt ducks, geese, coots, snipe and cranes without a provincial Game Bird Licence; no-fee federal Youth Permit required). Non-Canadian residents may purchase a seven-day Migratory Game Bird Licence through a licensed Manitoba waterfowl outfitter or enter the Non-Canadian resident Migratory Game Bird Licence Draw. 📋 Coyotes can be hunted under the authority of any big game licence; no tagging requirements. A Manitoba resident may hunt coyotes in any valid GHA during the coyote season with any current-year big game hunting licence.
