Chasse au wapiti en Alberta
L’Alberta est la fabrique à wapitis du Canada. Les versants est, les WMU des contreforts à l’ouest de Calgary et d’Edmonton, et les lisières de prairie-parc abritent un cheptel qui mélange migrants des montagnes et hardis résidents : et les saisons réservées à l’arc qui ouvrent fin août ou le 1ᵉʳ septembre comptent parmi les meilleures chasses à l’arc d’Amérique du Nord. Les taureaux en rut buglent tout septembre dans les unités des contreforts (série 300).
Le wapiti à bois à l’arc est offert sur permis général dans plusieurs WMU, tandis que les wapitis sans bois et la plupart des opportunités d’armes à feu sont contrôlées par tirage via AlbertaRELM. La chasse au wapiti en Alberta : l’essentiel
- Équipement d’arc : les arcs doivent atteindre la force minimale de 40 lb ; pointes de chasse obligatoires : les arbalètes ne sont pas légales dans les saisons réservées à l’arc (exception pour chasseurs handicapés).
- Tirages : les demandes se font via AlbertaRELM en juin ; il faut d’abord une carte WiN et un certificat de la faune.
- Où : les WMU des contreforts à l’ouest de Calgary (série 300), les versants est et les lisières de parc près des refuges comme Elk Island.
